At this time, the salt tank automatically supplies water to regenerate the ion exchange resin with brine to restore the exchange capacity of the resin.

 

 

3 Resin Selection

      The general principle of resin selection is to choose resins with high exchange capacity. Resins with high mechanical strength, uniform particles, and good heat resistance must be selected. When selecting resins for the cation bed, those with a large difference in wet true density should be selected, but they must be strong acid resins.

       Pretreatment of New Resin New resins contain excess raw materials and impurities, incomplete reaction products, etc. When the resin comes into contact with water, acids, alkalis, or other solutions, these impurities will enter the solution, contaminating the effluent water quality and affecting the process performance and service life of the resin. Therefore, new resins must be pretreated before use.

       The selection and pretreatment methods of new resins vary depending on the object. The specific operation process should be carried out under the guidance of specialized technicians.

 

 

4 How to Properly Store Ion Exchange Resin

1. Frost Protection: The resin storage environment should be at an ambient temperature >40℃ If the temperature is below 5℃ to prevent the resin from freezing, the resin can be placed in a brine solution.

2. Drying Prevention: Due to the loss of water in the resin during use or transportation, the resin volume expands and contracts, causing the resin to break or reduce its mechanical strength, losing or reducing its ion exchange capacity. In this case, the resin should not be directly dropped into water, but should be soaked in saturated brine to allow it to expand slowly to prevent breakage.

3. Mildew Prevention: If ion exchange resin is left unused in the exchanger for a long time, it will cause algae growth and bacterial reproduction, leading to mildew and contamination of the resin. Regular water changes and backwashing are necessary. You can also use 1.5% formaldehyde solution for soaking.
