How to distinguish between purified water, pure water, soft water, and direct drinking water

Water Purifier

Function:

Filters rust, sand and other suspended solids, removes residual chlorine and other chemicals. Water filtered by the water purifier can be drunk directly after heating.

Advantages of Water Purifier

Advantages: Simple structure, easy maintenance, long service life of ultrafiltration membrane filter element, large water output, etc. No motor, no power required, driven by water pressure filtration, water quality retains minerals in tap water.

Reminder:

For water purifiers, PP cotton and activated carbon need to be replaced regularly to ensure filtration quality. In areas with high residual chlorine concentration in water resources, where water has heavy discoloration and odor, and high organic matter content, it is recommended to use a water purifier with high activated carbon content.

Water Softener

Function:

Removes calcium and magnesium ions from water through physical or chemical methods to reduce water hardness.

Advantages:

First, it solves the problem of scale in pipelines (including underfloor heating, radiators, etc.), extending the life of pipelines and water-related electrical appliances. Then, using soft water to wash clothes will result in higher cleanliness and prevent clothes from becoming stiff. In addition, soft water also has skin care benefits.

Reminder:

Water softeners are generally larger in size and require a suitable installation location at home, otherwise it will affect the aesthetics. Moreover, compared with tap water, soft water has a very obvious feel. Soft water cannot be drunk directly and is for daily use, suitable for bathing, beauty, etc.

Direct Drinking Machine

Function:

Removes bacteria, viruses, organic matter, etc., so that the filtered water meets the standard for direct drinking.

Direct drinking machines are generally divided into two types: ultrafiltration machines and pure water machines.

1. Ultrafiltration machine:

The filter element of the ultrafiltration machine is made of a high-polymer material ultrafiltration membrane. Under certain pressure, small radius water molecules pass through the filter membrane, while large molecules are retained by the filter membrane, thus achieving water purification.

The ultrafiltration membrane's nano-level pore size can intercept most impurities, including bacteria, but it cannot filter out metal ions, water-soluble salts, and pesticide residues because their size is smaller.

2. Pure water machine:

The core of the pure water machine is the RO reverse osmosis membrane, which has a smaller pore size than the ultrafiltration membrane and can filter out metal ions, water-soluble salts, etc., that the ultrafiltration membrane cannot filter out. It can remove all impurities in the water, producing pure water.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Pure Water Machine

Advantages: The purified water quality can reach the standard of pure water, scale and all impurities can be removed, and the reverse osmosis membrane can be continuously rinsed to remove pollutants and extend the service life of the membrane;

Disadvantages: Wastewater needs to be discharged during operation; for every cup of purified water, 3 cups of wastewater are discharged. Also, because the water purified by the pure water machine is too pure, it lacks trace elements beneficial to the human body.

Reminder:

If the local water quality is good and you are used to boiling water before drinking, then generally an ultrafiltration machine is sufficient. However, if the local water quality is poor, it is better to use a pure water machine to ensure the filtration effect.
