Where are water softeners used?

Water hardness is mainly caused by calcium and magnesium ions. Sodium ion exchange softening works by passing the raw water through a sodium-type cation exchange resin. This allows the hardness components Ca2+ and Mg2+ in the water to exchange with the Na+ in the resin, thus adsorbing the Ca2+ and Mg2+ and softening the water.

Water softening equipment is widely used in softening the makeup water for steam boilers, hot water boilers, exchangers, evaporative condensers, air conditioners, and direct-fired engines. It can also be used in the treatment of domestic water for hotels, restaurants, office buildings, and apartments, as well as in the water softening treatment for the food, beverage, brewing, laundry, dyeing, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries. Currently, it is widely used in the circulating makeup water of various steam boilers, hot water boilers, heat exchangers, steam condensers, air conditioners, and direct-fired engines. In addition, it is used for domestic water treatment, food, electroplating, pharmaceutical, chemical, dyeing, textile, and electronics industrial water treatment, and as pretreatment for desalination systems.
