Home prevention of aerosol transmission of viruses mainly focuses on floor drains and toilet bowls. If there are backflow or leakage problems in the sewer, the sealing of toilets and urinals should be strengthened. City sewage and fecal water pipes are separated, and there will be no problem of drinking water contamination.
Disease control experts point out that some patients infected with the novel coronavirus experience abdominal pain and diarrhea, and tests have found that the virus can be detected in feces, so the possibility of toilet flushing leading to fecal particle aerosols cannot be ruled out.
Therefore, all floor drains in the home should be covered with a lid when not draining. If there is no lid, a plastic bag filled with water can be used to make a makeshift floor drain cover. Once a week, pour a cup of water (about 500mL) into the drain, then pour in 10mL (one teaspoon) of chlorine disinfectant solution with an effective chlorine concentration of 2.5g/L. After 30 minutes, pour in another cup of water. This ensures enough water in the floor drain bend to provide isolation.

Ventilation + Cover the toilet lid before flushing
The bathroom should be kept well-ventilated. It is recommended to open the windows for ventilation three times a day, each time for half an hour or more. If natural ventilation is not possible, mechanical ventilation such as an exhaust fan can be used.
Promote good home hygiene habits, use harmless sanitary toilets, do not use chamber pots, etc., to reduce the risk of exposure to pollutants and cleaning. Develop good habits when flushing, cover the toilet lid before flushing, and wash hands promptly with hand sanitizer under running water.
If someone in the home has symptoms such as fever, cough, diarrhea, or vomiting, disinfect the bathroom surfaces, floor, and toilet with disinfectant. High-frequency contact objects or parts such as doorknobs, sink countertops, faucet switches, washbasins, toilets, urinals, and toilet buttons should be disinfected at least twice a day.

Home Preventive Disinfection Guidelines
84 disinfectant can be diluted at a ratio of disinfectant: water of 1:100, used as 500mg/L of effective chlorine, i.e., 5% effective chlorine; 75% ethanol disinfectant can be used directly; daily household disinfectants such as those from brands like Weilu Shi, Dilu, and Blue Moon should be prepared and used according to the product label instructions at the concentration that kills intestinal pathogens.
1. Surfaces of daily-use items such as countertops, switches, washbasins, and toilets should be wiped with a chlorine disinfectant containing 250 mg/L~500 mg/L of effective chlorine, then rinsed with clean water; at least once a day.
2. Floors should be mopped daily with a chlorine disinfectant of 250mg/L~500mg/L.
3. Daily textiles such as towels and clothing should be soaked in a chlorine disinfectant of 250mg/L~500mg/L for 1 hour, or boiled for 15 minutes for disinfection.
4. Heat-resistant items can be boiled for 15 minutes or soaked in a chlorine disinfectant of 250mg/L~500mg/L for 30 minutes, then rinsed with clean water.
